Powder.com is reporting that Vermont’s “snowiest ski resort,” Jay Peak, has received its first snow of the 2023/2024 ski season.

“The changing leaves are past peak in most areas of the Green Mountains of Vermont, and winter is slowly starting to creep in,” writes Powder.com. “Jay Peak, Vermont’s snowiest resort in terms of average snowfall, took to social media on October 22, 2023 to share a photo of their first documented snowfall of the season.”

The early snow is just a tease, not expected to last, but, Jay Peak and Powder.com both say it is a good omen for the ski season ahead.

“Like a lighthouse guiding weary sailors of yesteryear, Jay Peak(ed) through the dense fog yesterday evening donning a fresh dusting of white,” says Powder.com. “A hopeful sign for skiers and snowboarders longing for winter.

“Jay Peak has yet to announce an opening day for the coming season, but this first blast of winter will help to hold over their eager skiers,” continued Powder.com
