“Pre-season snow blanketed several South American ski areas, including popular destinations like La Parva and Portillo,” Powder.com is reporting.

Despite the official ski season normally being weeks away, mid-to-late June for most resorts, “ski resorts across South America are reporting honkin’ snowfall totals,” Powder writes. “La Parva, Chile, started yesterday with 40-plus inches of fresh snow,” leading skiers to post queries, “when do you open?”

El Portillo has received more than 32 inches of fresh snow in May and early pre-season snow at Catedral Alta Patagonia allowed it to open for a few days earlier in the month.
