A very cold spring and summer in Western Canada has allowed the Banff Sunshine ski resort to open in July for the first time in more than three decades.
The resort opened from June 28 through July 3, allowing Canadians to celebrate Canada Day (July 1) on the snowy slopes. The resort received 30 feet of snow this winter and a cold spring has delayed its melting. Moreover, the resort experienced fresh snow in late June.
