The Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC) issued frost and snow alerts for parts of Western Canada, in Alberta and Saskatchewan, and in Eastern Canada, in Quebec and New Brunswick, CTV News reported on October 1.
“As October begins, several provinces are bracing for frosty conditions and some are facing a snowy start, local forecasts say,” said CTV News. “According to CTV’s Your Morning meteorologist Kelsey McEwen, areas in the Prairies, including Alberta and Saskatchewan, were frosty early Tuesday morning. Across Eastern Canada, parts of Quebec and New Brunswick are expected to get their share of frost Tuesday night.”
McEwen also noted that the MSC placed parts of northern British Columbia under a snowfall warning, where as much as 10 centimeters of snow were forecast to fall.
Canada’s alpine ski resorts welcomed the continuation of snow in early-October.
“Fall has only just arrived, but up north in Canada, several resorts in the Banff, Alberta, area have seen snowfall for the past month,” reported Powder.com on October 2. “The latest storm arrived overnight and into the morning of October 2, 2024, coating Banff Sunshine Village and Lake Louise in fresh snow.”
In fact, Powder.com reports that Canada’s Banff Sunshine Village, Lake Louise, and Mt. Norquay, each got their first snow of the 2024-2025 ski season in late August. Snow fell again in September and now at the beginning of October.
