As of early morning December 6, Ottawa set a new record for consecutive hours of snowfall, reported CTV News.

Environment Canada confirmed that with the city’s 59th straight hour of snow at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, Ottawa broke a record set last in 1959 for consecutive hours of snowfall. Because the snow was light for the most part, despite the extended period of falling, only about 15 cm of snow accumulated.

After a brief break, snow started up again Thursday December 7, and it and/or rain has fallen off and on since then as temperatures have hovered just above or below the freezing mark.
