CNN Reports:
Temperatures in China’s northernmost city of Jingtao plunged to minus 53°C (minus 63.4 degrees Fahrenheit) – the coldest ever recorded in that country, the Chinese Meteorological Agency said on Monday, January 23.
This record was also confirmed on Twitter, by Meteorologist Scott Duncan:

According to a report by Meteorologist Jim Yang, China’s severe cold was widespread:
Today, temperature in northern China hit a new low in a large area this year, 13 provincial capitals such as Beijing, Tianjin, Hohhot hit a new low this winter. Southern China’s temperature has dropped significantly, but only in western Yunnan is still warm, like Jinghong 27.1C.
