The National Weather Service in Gaylor Michigan writes on Facebook:
It was chilly last night! Out of the 148 low temperature reports we received, guess what the coldest report was. Bonus points* for location.
According to NWS the lowest confirmed reading was 31 degrees in Atlanta, the seat of Montmorency County. A below-freezing reading in the supposed ‘dog days’ of summer.
The winner was 31° F in Atlanta, MI from our 25 county area of responsibility. A couple reports colder than this were recorded in the western U.P.
The NWS provided this table (seen above) showing that a number of other locations in Michigan were near freezing.
Colder than normal temperatures are expected again this week in Upper Michigan.
