Glam Adelaide reports that a number of locations in South Australia recorded historically low temperatures on May 22.

“The chilly mornings are officially here, with many parts of SA recording its coldest May morning on record earlier this week!,” exclaimed Glam Adeliade. “Wednesday was the chilliest with Nurioopta reaching -2.6c, Kadina reached -0.8c with its previous record being 0.1c on May 30th 2021, Robe reached -2c with its previous record being -1.3c May 25th 2006, Roseworthy reached -1.4c beating its previous record of -0.4c on May 27th 1967, Cummins reached -1.6c with its previous record of 0.8c May 7th 2023, and Wudinna recorded -1.5c with its previous being -1.2c May 21st 2022.”

The unusual cold spell prompted the state government to issue a Code Blue extreme weather alert, which initiated special programs to help those especially exposed to the harsh winter weather.

“Special measures include the provision of emergency accommodation to ensure that those sleeping rough can find refuge from the severe cold,” Glam Adeliade said describing the type of support a Code Blue alert institutes.
