The Denver Post reported on a late spring storm that swept across the state on May 1:

A cold front traveling across Colorado this afternoon will bring scattered to numerous showers, isolated thunderstorms with hail and snow in the mountains, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow had already fallen at ski resorts west of Denver. The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, CO posted this graphic on their Facebook page along with this message:

A cold front tracks across Colorado this afternoon bringing gusty north winds. Scattered to numerous showers will form behind the front late this afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms are also expected, with the stronger storms producing small hail, possibly up to one inch in diameter. For the mountains, up to 4 inches of snow will be possible. The showers end late tonight.
