SABC News reports that an early for the year snowstorm hit the Eastern Cape of South Africa, prompting travel warnings from the Provincial Transport agency.

“Motorists travelling on the N9 between Graaff-Reinet and Middleburg in the Eastern Cape have been warned to be cautious on the road due to snowfall overnight,” said SABC News. “Provincial Transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose said, ‘We are urging road users, motorists in particular to be extra cautious when approaching that stretch ….”

With snow appearing so early this year and weather forecasts looking favorable, Snow-Forecast.com has reported that Lesotho’s Afriski Mountain Resort, which borders South Africa, is planning to open its ski slopes early in 2024.

“Afriski in Lesotho plans its earliest opening on June 1st, marking its first full season since 2022,” writes Snow-Forecast.com.
