Snow fell after Thanksgiving across a wide swath of the United States, from Buffalo, Oklahoma to just outside of Buffalo, New York.

Below freezing temperatures and snowfall were common across the Oklahoma panhandle over the November 25th weekend, reported KOCO. Both Jet and Laverne, Oklahoma recorded 6 inches or more of snowfall, while Buffalo, Oklahoma received 7.8 inches.

As the winter storm moved East, it also delivered heavy snow to the Great Lakes region of Western New York, among other parts of the country along the way.

“Heavy snow coated parts of northern and western New York on Tuesday as a lake-effect snowstorm continued to wallop the region, causing hazardous travel conditions and closing schools,” wrote the New York Times. “The storm held steady overnight, with snowfall rates over one inch per hour as meteorologists warned that winds of about 35 miles per hour could produce blowing and drifting snow.

“By 11 a.m., the storm had dropped more than a foot of snow in towns and villages south of Buffalo,” said the New York Times.

All along the storm’s path, poor travel conditions prevailed and accidents were common.

School closings were also common in areas under winter weather alerts issued by the National Weather Service, which covered parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York, where in some areas as much or more than 12 to 18 inches of snow fell over the course of a single day.
